Grains of Hope
Shining a light on pastoralism in Turkana, Kenya, Grains of Hope is an exploration into the challenges this way of life presents, the resilience of the Turkana people in the face of uncertainty and the role of Mary’s Meals in offering food security and stability to both families and communities in the region. Featuring narrative from an expert in social anthropology, staff, teachers, community leaders and volunteers the film offers a glimpse into a world of extreme hardship, yet one where hope and optimism for the future remain a constant.
The team flew out to Kenya to record footage and once they returned, the design team with the tasked with creating top-tier branding to accompany the incredible footage captured, and inspired people to watch the film.
As a design team, we began an in depth and robust research phase.
We researched and compiled references from all sectors and varying styles, particularly focusing on film and documentary posters.
We moved into an experimentation phase of trial and error.
We experimented with different imagery, typography, layouts and colour, having been inspired by our research, testing the waters and discussing what works and what doesn't, and deciding on an area to explore further.
After finalising our main image, the branding started coming together.
We continued experimenting with typography and layout and tested the adaptability and versatility of the brand concept.
The final branding translated well across digital platforms.
We considered the use of strong imagery and simple branding when creating collateral to create impactful and professional content that stood out amongst the rest of content.
